Product details
Frankincense and myrrh are natural resins harvested from specific types of trees. Our frankincense is a type of aromatic resin that is obtained from trees of the genus Boswellia. It is tapped from the scraggly but hardy tree by slashing the bark and allowing the exuded resins to bleed out and harden. Myrrh is a natural gum or resin extracted from a number of small, thorny tree species of the genus resin that hardens into what is known as 'tears'. Myrrh trees are found in the semi-arid regions of Africa and the Middle East. Both frankincense and myrrh were highly prized in ancient times and have been used for religious rituals, In our modern era, the daily use of frankincense and myrrh incense has transcended time, finding its place in contemporary rituals and practices.
Burning resins emit an aromatic smoke that provides a sense of calm and serenity, allowing for a deeper focus and a heightened sense of inner peace. By engaging with these ancient aromas on a regular basis, we honor the traditions of the past, acknowledging the enduring significance they hold in our lives today. The resins act as gentle reminders to slow down, breathe deeply, and find solace in the present moment. Frankincense in the Bible: Exodus 30:34-38: Frankincense is mentioned as an ingredient in the sacred incense used in the Tabernacle worship. Leviticus 2:1-2: Frankincense is prescribed as an offering to accompany certain grain offerings.
Song of Solomon 3:6: Frankincense is mentioned in poetic language, symbolizing the bride's love and devotion. Myrrh in the Bible: Exodus 30:23-25: Myrrh is mentioned as an ingredient in the sacred anointing oil used for the Tabernacle and priests. Matthew 2:11: Myrrh is one of the gifts presented by the Magi (wise men) to the baby Jesus, signifying his future role as the sacrificial Savior.
