As many customers have pointed out, there are tolerances in both the hitch and the receiver. There are dimensional deviations in the size of the receivers on different vehicle models, many of them are slightly larger than 2 inches, such as 2014 Escape. We made our molds based on imperial (inches) to try and make it a tighter fit, it is almost a standard square with 2-inch sides.
If you found it is a little loose during the installation, just try to use some spacers to keep it tight, or attach some synthetic fabric tape around it and it will be fine
